I bought it to trim my neighbor's tree that was growing into my power lines. It had already taken down their power and cable lines over the past year. I waited until all the leaves fell to be able to see the extent of growth. It was much more than I expected. This little saw on the extension pole cut quickly through the 1"-3" branches over and through my lines without any issues. Once the branches were clear of the power lines I went to work on the larger branches coming off the main trunk after taking it off the extension pole this is a fantastic option. I thought it would be hard to cut the six inch diameter branches but this thing cut through it fast and no stalling. Then I used the saw to cut the big branches into foot long sections. Then I cut up the smaller peices to discard them. 2 hours of work without any problems except for me not adjusting the chain properly. It popped off and I reinstalled it in minutes.I was surprised by the quality and ease of operation of the tool. I have gas chainsaws but I couldn't get high enough so I bought this. It is so nice and quiet plus it isn't idling while you adjust the wood workload.
The Worx WG309 chainsaw has been a solid addition to my toolkit, and it performs admirably for the most part. Its power and versatility make it a reliable choice for various cutting tasks. One of the standout features is its ease of use. The toolless chain tensioning system is a real time-saver, allowing quick adjustments on the fly. The chainsaw feels well-balanced, making it comfortable to handle during extended use. However, my experience with the WG309 has been almost perfect, with one minor hiccup. During larger cuts or when tackling thicker branches, I've encountered instances where the chain tends to slip off. It doesn't happen frequently, but it's enough to be a slight inconvenience when it does. That being said, the chainsaw's overall performance, especially for lighter to medium-sized tasks, has been impressive. It cuts through branches and logs with ease, and the automatic oil lubrication system ensures the chain remains well-maintained.In summary, the Worx WG309 is a versatile and user-friendly chainsaw that's almost perfect for various cutting needs. Its one minor flaw is the occasional chain slippage during bigger cuts, which can be a bit frustrating. However, if you're primarily using it for smaller to medium-sized jobs, it's an excellent tool to have in your arsenal. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
So I needed a pole saw and after using a friends I’d become spoiled. I found that there was no weight at the wire end of the pole to counterweight the saw itself… this made it extremely head heavy and difficult to use overhead with out fear of loosing control…Once I took off the handle and began using the saw as a hand held I was blown away!! This little saw is awesome the self tightening chain system is really cool and seems to work flawlessly! I’ve cut about a cord and a half with it and have two more cords to go..not a great pole saw but a serious contender for cutting firewood.. not in the forest of course but maybe on a generator lolTo be honest it cut supper smooth through 8” rounds with ease! Super sharp and super light for one hand use (just not on the pole!.. lol)
I put chain oil in it the same day I got it and cut down one whole tree and trimmed down two more, and the next day I cut another whole tree. Seems powerful enough to take care of anything, but you have to consider the diameter of what you want to cut, and for a 10" chainsaw, it's pretty sturdy and has plenty of power, with that said, the tree trunks that I cut were about 10" more or less in diameter. Dragging the cable behind can be annoying, but I'd rather adjust to that than to have to be adding gas all the time or worrying that I forgot to charge the batteries, and since I only need it for the house, a 35' extension works great and it's just consistent power flow and all you have to do is add chain oil here and there. At full pole extension it does become a bit wobbly and more difficult to keep steady, and you get tired and have to take breaks more often, since it's top heavy, but I'm going to attach a shoulder strap as close to the front as possible and maybe that will take care of that. Overall, I really like this little pole saw.
Just finished taking out a large broken branch and cleaning up a few more branches to prevent future issues with my trees and roof. This saw is a very powerful and useful tool. All I needed was the red and black plaid shirt and I would have been a full fledged LumberJack. Seriously, this is a great saw that is a tremendous value. For less than half of the price of hiring a tree trimmer, I was able to easily trim back trees that were threatening my roof. And the bonus is that I will have the saw to do this again with future tree branch growth. The only downside of the saw is that you have to buy bar oil separately before using the saw. Simple solution is add the bar oil to your cart when you check out and the issue is solved.
It is a little bit heavy with the pole attached, but easy to operate. It is best for using it without the pole. The chain is excellent quality and cuts through without any problem.
I've used this saw for a few months, and it has performed well by helping me trim those hard to reach small to medium tree branches around the yard that are normally just out of reach. It's quite sturdy and easy enough to assemble and disassemble, clean and maintain. One ease-of-use feature I especially like is the self oiler, which other models in this price range usually do not have. Kickback is nonexistent, and operation is quiet and vibration free. That said, I've found this to be perhaps the most awkward and hazardous homeowner power tool I've ever used. This isn't a dink against WORX, but the product category itself.Although it can extend to ten feet, for obvious reasons you do not cut while holding the pole in the vertical position. For safety with larger branches you would use it at maybe a 45 deg angle, at which point you get a physics lesson in the forces needed to hold steady a ten pound weight at the end of a ten foot pole. That works out to over 70 pounds of torque. Which is to say you'll need some strong shoulders to use this safely. That greater angle is important because branches do not always drop straight down. Depending what they get caught on, the heavy, cut end of the limb might swing right toward you.Another gripe is that at longer extensions, the housing blocks your view of the blade. In many cases you literally won't be able to see what your saw is doing. I also found that pressing the trigger switch - safety button combination is a bit awkward for a leftie like me. It's designed for a right-handed person. My greatest concern, alarm actually, is that it takes a full five seconds (I timed it) for the blade to stop moving once you've released the switch. It's not a dead man switch, and there is no chain brake. Five seconds is an eternity if you get yourself into trouble on a ladder with a ten inch chain saw waving around over your head at the end of a ten foot pole. This is the primary reason for the three star rating. As for using the saw by itself hand-held, without the pole, I find it works smoothly and comes in handy. For much of the work of breaking down tree branches once on the ground however, I prefer an alligator style electric saw a bit better. Those are just all around easier to use with smaller branches.
It did the job successfully; trimming fruit tree branches and bushes around the yard. This feels like a a very dangerous tool and one must be careful. Highly recommend to always use two hands. And to wear gloves, googles, and good work shoes. I like that the chainsaw can be used separately. Super easy to take apart and maintain. I don’t like how the weight is distributed. Weight is awkward when using the poll, saw end is a bit heavy requiring some muscle to keep upright, tiring after a few minutes, and can be difficult to see the saw blade while deep in the tree. I would not feel comfortable if my wife were to handle this tool. It had good enough power cutting thru all the branches. Had to stop a could times when the power cord got caught in branches and came undone, not sure yet if my fault when routing the cable when attaching the saw to the pole. Also had to stop a few times because thin reeds of a bush would get caught in the housing; easy to clear the debris. The price is great. Reminder to buy oil ahead of time. Overall it got the job done, tool is easy to maintain, but i would not recommend.
Now have three different Worx chainsaws for multiple array of projects/purposes. This latest one has some good and some not so good points. Loved the price (was on sale) and like all Worx chainsaws comes with a 3-year warranty. The overall size of the actual saw is perfect for cutting palm trees and small tree branches and this is an electric version, which I prefer around the yard (also carry the small 20v battery version for camping and the large 18-inch electric version). The extension pole is easy to use but can be a little bit shaky when at full extension. And that leads me to my biggest complaint about this product. This is not lightweight, especially when you have it at full extension. I am 6'3", 240 lbs. lifter and this makes me work to keep a firm grip and control of the saw when extend out perpendicular to my body. Much easier to control when vertical to almost vertical but if you are cutting anything where the saw is perpendicular to your body, well then it can be a real challenge to control - meaning you will have to take rest periods when cutting. However, I am still happy with the chainsaw and makes life so much easier when cutting the palm fronds, just beware of the limitations of the device and its weight. Otherwise, another great Worx product at an excellent price.
I used one like this after a storm for 12 hours a day for 10 days after using it for 10 years off and on and love it being so light weight, one hand operation when not on the pole, taking out whole trees 14 inches in dia. and chopping them up. It finally give out so I bought another one. I do have a 24 inch but always go for this one. Being electric I never have to mess with the gas, getting it started or winterizing it. I rented a 50 foot boom and started at the top working my way down till final trunk on 60 foot trees, all with this saw. And when standing on the ground or on my boat shed, and trim as needed all year long. The chain is easy to put on and doesn’t jump off like some do. The cheapest chain at Home Depot but last awhile.
