I like the way the sections screw in and click together which makes it virtually impossible for the sections to come apart while sawing. I also like the fact that it has a separate scissor/pruning head and an extra blade. The saw works great when it isn't at it's max height. If you try using this thing with all of the sections connected it is kind of a heavy, awkward, flimsy disaster. The pole flexes like crazy and as far as I am concerned basically takes two people to be able to handle it. Other than it being heavy and flimsy when fully extended it is a great saw.
I had to clear branches from around where the power lines and cable come onto my property, so that my new fiber internet service could be installed. (Apparently, fiber is much more delicate than copper, which is what my current provider uses.) There were some pretty good sized limbs, 20' or so up, that needed to be dealt with, so I ordered this VEVOR Manual Pole Saw.When the product arrived, I was literally astonished by the quality all the way around! The bag that comes with it is very high-quality canvas, with a nice pocket on the side to store the blade in the included scabbard, with a velcro strap to hold it in.The sections go together quickly, and are sturdy, with thick threads and pop-up buttons to keep the sections from unscrewing while in use.The blades are sharp and properly shaped for easy cutting without the saw popping out of the cut.Manual pole-sawing is never really easy, but this pole saw made pretty quick work of what I needed to get done.Highly recommended!
I have in no way been compensated for this review... so let me start by saying: I LOVE this saw.We have a number of oaks (among other trees) on our property, and they hadn't been pruned in many years. There was a lot of clutter in the canopy, and it was impossible to reach with our "standard" pole saws, so we decided to give this one a try. It comes with 3 blades - and 2 separate cutting heads. Two blades are identical and feature hooks at either end so that they don't slip out of the cut, and one is the more typical curved pruning blade that attaches to the pruning shear head. You would use this one to go after smaller branches.First: the blades are sharp and cut very nicely. Like I said, I've been working on oak trees and cutting 6" diameter branches with a 20' pole attached, and while I'm definitely getting a workout, I'm also quite happy with how these blades are cutting.Second: the pole design is brilliant. The sections screw together, and then a spring catch locks into place. To disassemble, press the spring catch while starting to turn to loosen the screw connection. It probably sounds complicated, but it's not; when you see it and use it, it makes perfect sense. The sections are 4' long so you can tailor the length of the pole pretty precisely for the area you need to work in.I've seen some comments that mention the tool being ungainly or hard to control... well, if you've got a 24 foot long lever arm, and you're trying to control it by holding onto it by the last 4 feet, it's going to be a challenge. It's easy to add and subtract length to the pole for each cut - yes, it takes an extra minute, but spending an extra minute for safety and ease of control is just common sense. If you have to cut with the saw at its maximum length, you should be aware that it can be hard to position a 24' pole precisely by holding onto one end of it, and that this does require some upper body strength. That's not a ding against this product, is a feature of the laws of physics. The saw comes with a nice canvas carrying bag that fits everything, and also comes with a hard plastic sleeve that covers the saw blade so that it doesn't snag. For anyone who needs a pruning saw that's capable of taking down larger branches at distances greater than 10 feet, I'd recommend this saw without hesitation. For the capability you get, it's a screaming bargain.
Saw is manageable even when extended longer than 20ft. Multiple saw blades provided but require sharpening or replacing after approx 2 hours of rigorous usage. Can accomplish much in 2 hours, but hard work for an old man. Take pain med after. Much safer than climbing trees. That alone is worth the price. I am very satisfied with purchase. Easy assembly and appears to be substantial design and materials. Poles are aluminum with plastic and aluminum joints. Blade is thin but ok for application. Hooks on each end of blade is a necessity in my opinion. Replacement blades are available on Amazon. I should have bought this tool years ago. Incredible storage bag with Velcro closure and tough fabric. Pole endured much abuse and fared better than my sore body. Pace yourself with this tool and don't do too much in one day. Further processing of removed limbs should be done with any power saw available, although kit comes with hand saw. Remember to use enough extension poles to remain out from under the area where branches fall. Hard hat and eye protection may be advised. Safe pruning everyone.
I have Ficus trees that are too tall for a standard extension pole saw. I ordered this pole saw due to how high I’d need to cut from the ground. It comes with 2 oversized saw blades and a special safe storage holder. The blades are plenty sharp and cut through some pretty fat limbs(6”-8”) 30 feet off the ground. Ficus weep a LOT of sap which eventually gums up the teeth which then must be cleaned off w solvent and wire brush. These blades are longer than yr average pole saw blades, nice for bigger limbs but also easier to twist, bend or warp if not careful.I found when I linked all the extensions together, the tool is too heavy overall and difficult to lift. Unwieldy and hard to be place with precision. I removed an extension and found it much easier to use. It has a 2nd attachment for slicing through smaller branches which works quite well, just not at the full length. One other drawback is that the saw head attachment screws on. If one isn’t aware or careful the attachment can become “unscrewed “ and loose enough to not function properly. In fairness I’m 55 yrs old w some back issues.I will be keeping this pole saw as it does allow me a significantly longer reach than others on the shelf. I’d also recommend it for those extra tall trim jobs.
This partially fallen branch requires removal, and the pole saw effectively accomplishes this task. Nonetheless, the extended length of the pole increases its weight, requiring skill to set it up and secure it on branches. Additionally, it may exhibit some wobbling, necessitating caution to avoid accidents. In summary, despite these considerations, the pole saw performs well overall.
For consumer use, this is a stellar product for $90. The lopper and blades (3 of them!) are all high quality, all work remarkably well with little effort. It's easy to put together, and strikes a great balance between "light" and "wobbly". It could be stiffer but that would add weight. I'm 60 years old in average shape, had no problem operating this at 16', and could probably use it at 20' without killing myself. I put it together at the full 27' (which indeed measured 27') just to evaluate. I was able to stand it up, but it was heavy enough and wobbly enough at 27' that I was afraid to move it. This was in a clear area though. If I had stood it up right against a tree right where I needed to cut I think it would have been maneuverable. I think. The one thing I found odd was how the tubes attach. They screw together, and when the threads bottom out a tab pops into place to hold it there. No way it could unscrew by accident, that's pretty trick. The odd part is that it uses square Acme threads which by design have some built-in clearance, so it has a tiny amount of wobble even when tight. At 8' you won't feel it. 12' you'll barely feel it. 16' you can feel it but it works fine. 27' it still works but it's a little spooky. I'm guessing it's like this to keep from stress cracking anything; the manual has a warning to "not wobble it vigorously as if performing a failure test". I'd call it a "quirk" rather than a "problem", just note that if you abuse it, that's where it will fail. For $90 for homeowner use I'd buy it again in a split second. Love this thing. And it's orange, how cool is that!
I just tried it today for the first time and I've only gone up about two extensions and everything seems solid. The saws seem sharp. The canvas bag that you stor it in is awesome. I'm not sure what the difference is between the bigger saw and a saw that you can put on the lopper. I think it's just that the bigger saw would probably work a lot better than the other one is for smaller branches that maybe the lopper can't quite get. I would prefer everything be all in one and have the big saw with the lobber so you can go back and forth but I'm not a landscaper so I decided up front that this seemed like a good compromise and I didn't mind having to switch back and forth because I'm not going to be using it that much. So as I saw another review, the instructions are a little lacking. My big hint would be metal screws into metal. The other thing, since I was only using two extensions with the lopper couldn't really use the built-in handle on the string. So I had a wrap the string around my hand a little bit and then pull. Although now that I think about it, I wonder if that handle can just move up on the string. Then I can wrap a string around the handle a little bit and that would work. So there you go. In any case, that's not a deal killer and would apply to any of these that you might see. Definitely happy with the purchase and it is priced reasonably. One more thing, the reason I picked this along with the price was I liked the way the extension screwwd into each other and felt that maybe on the other ones over time those might crack and break. I'm going to be working on some higher branches now and I'll update this review if I have any other observations.
I am very impressed with this saw. It works great. The only issue I have is that it is extremely heavy with all the extensions on it or even with all of them except one. But I expected that. It makes it a little bit hard to control at the top where the saw blade is. But if you take your time you can get the job done, it just may take a while. I wish there was a way to make the poles lighter but you probably sacrifice strength in doing so. Would definitely buy again!
I like it overall except for the flimsy blade. It’ll bend and twist. Not sure if it’ll be good to get it out when it’s stuck cutting the branch or it’ll make it hard to make good cuts. Otherwise, the pole feels light to a certain extent and connects well.At full length or close to it, it is difficult to maneuver and make cuts. You just need to take your time. For thin branches, you can use the weight of the pole to snap it. I’m 5’5” and not very strong, but was able to utilize the pole just fine.Once you figure the proper position and how to maneuver the pole, it just gets easier.
