This is longer than 12'. It is about 8' long and extends to about 15'. It is the Fiskars quality I know from their amazing scissors. It is fairly light for its size. The pruner is sharp and easily cuts 1" or smaller branches. It will cut up to about 2", but over 1" takes a lot more force and strength. If you only want to prune smaller branches, then don't install the saw. With the saw attached, it is more difficult to place the pruning hook. The saw works well. It has been outside in the rain for several days and is still bright and shiny stainless. I've cut up to 6" limbs with it overhead, but that size limb takes about 20 minutes to cut. Smaller limbs cut through in a few minutes with the super sharp saw.The adjusting mechanism is very easy to use. There is a collar that locks the pole to length. Once the collar is released, you can press a button to slide the extension in or out. There are 3 extension holes that make it about 10', 12', and 15' at its longest. Release the button and slide the extension until it clicks. Then close the collar and start cutting. It is more difficult to stabilize at the longer settings. The pruning rope extends about 2' longer than the pole at it greatest length. It's better to only prune 1" or smaller branches when it is fully extended, because the force needed for larger branches cause a bow in the device while pulling the cord. There were some issues with the pruning head cord coming off the rollers from branch contact. It was easy to correct by hand. I left the saw attached (held on by a single wingnut), but I think there would be less cord issues without the saw.I'm very pleased with this pole saw and I'm so happy that I didn't get the multi-piece long saws after seeing how they come apart. I highly recommend this pole saw/pruner from Fiskars.UPDATE: Still 5 stars! I've used this pole saw a lot. The pruning cord can get tangled at shorter lengths, but is easy to manage by hold the cord on the handle during use. I love this pole saw and it has done everything I needed with high branches!

These are the bomb. They are light weight, and when extended out, hardly no flex. Very sharp and cut through limbs with ease. Great garden tool.

I had not trimmed some of my trees in my yard due to the branches being too high. I bought this tool due to the long reach and option of either pruning off limbs or sawing them off. I used this tool quite a bit and in general am happy with the performance. Only disappointment is there are some branches I could not cut. If a branch is too thick to prune off and too flimsy for the saw blade you can't get them cut. Also, be careful when using the saw on branches that might twist as they get cut. Almost got my saw stuck in a tree branch way up high with no way to get it out. Was lucky to be able to get up on a ladder and pull on the branch to relieve the tension.

I'm pleased with MOST of this tool -- it has a very nice Saw Blade; I believe its Oval Extension Poles offers better structural strength than previously-used Round Poles; it has a pair of nicely made outer C-Clamps for the Pole Extensions; the Pole Extensions are fairly sturdy, and lock very securely into their different "open" positions quite well; the length of the Fully-Extended Pole Saw seems a bit longer than I expected (but I've not measured it, nor directly compared it to previous pole saws, yet). The Pruning Blade is this tool's weakest link and has caused me the most difficulty, so far. I'm pleased to see that it seems to be a Metal Cutting Blade with a pass-thru cut against a (Painted) Metal Brace. (It originally looked like a plastic housing to me, so I'm hoping it's actually metal.) The fact that some of the painted surface is chipping away after a few dozen cuts is annoying, but tolerable. The bigger problem is the Cutting Blade rarely springs back to its fully open position -- so, I always have to bring the top mechanism all the way back to within reach of my hands, pull it fully open, then use it again -- and repeat this process. [Note that WD40 hasn't eliminated this time-consuming problem.]

The new Fiskars Pruner/Pole Saw has improved greatly on the short comings of earlier modelsWe had bought one several years ago and it has been only partially usable the last couple of years. It would not lock in place when extended and the pole saw would not hold for long when deployed. So, I could only reach lower branches and had to keep re-fastening the pole saw as I cut This, even though I used it only once or twice per year. Not sure when the changes were made, by the current version looks to have addressed both of these issues. The only downside is that the extension only has certain locked positions and the pole saw must be detached when deploying it from it from its stored position. However, the number of extension points is sufficient so that is a minor concern, at most. Having the pole saw locked in place when in use is more important than saving a few seconds taking it out of and putting it back in storage. While I've just received the new version, I can tell these improvements have made the Fiskars Pruner/Pole Saw a sturdier and more reliable product. It may be the last one I need to buy.

Extends easily and has a great reach. The pruner and saw work well. When using the pruner, the saw should be removed so it doesn’t get in the way of maneuvering the pruner in to position. The position and shape of the pruner blades make it easy to grab the branch you are going to cut. So far, if a branch can be hooked and fits in the blades, it can be cut.

I have been a long time fan of Fiskars' products from scissors to grass shears to lever action limb loppers.I had the same high expectations when recently ( day 3) purchasing this manual pole saw. I have used it for several hours the last 2 days. The lever action pruner portion of this pole saw is the best feature, but it's limited to cutting branches one inch in diameter or less. Pole stability is fine, even when fully extended. My chief complaint is that the saw blade is made of thin metal, very flimsy and it wobbles from side to side when you're sawing back and forth, reducing your pull-push force significantly. I measured the blade thickness with calipers at 0.05-0.06 inches = 1/20 of an inch. I will probably keep it, but I'm already trying to think of a way to add thickness to the blade to stabilize it. (Wondering too if the new blade could be manufactured to be sharper ?)Fiskars knows this blade is too thin and should make changes. This is a no-brainer. As always, cost cutting measures and shareholders are the main concern, not customer satisfaction.I had to slow down the speed of sawing to accommodate the wobbly blade (yes, it was screwed on tight) so cutting a 1 - 2 inch branch seemed to take way too long. Disappointing, as I am in decent physical shape for a "Boomer". I owned a similar style manual saw some 20 years ago, don't remember the brand, it was steady and dependable for 15 years until the pull cord broke in many places (for the smaller pruner blade) and the large saw blade became dull. My fault for not replacing both cord & blade. (Side note: my wife presented me with an electric pole saw for Father's Day that year and it was okay for the first year, but by year two the chain (with blades) kept coming off even after numerous adjustments and also the rotating blade was struggling to cut small pecan branches by the 3rd spring/summer. And it was heavy to hold in place overhead).

Worked great for trimming tops of Leland cypress

I've owned a Fiscars pole pruner forever and after about 8 years of use and sharpening the blade finally broke so I ordered this. The original one I had was just a telescoping fiberglass pole with no indication of how far it was actually extended. This one has a dual locking design with locking holes in the extendable part of the pole which is nice and it's construction is much sturdier... However the rope that actautes the blade when pulled wasn't tied when I received this and I had to redo the rope and tie it myself so that the blade would work. I find that frustrating as I paid good money and it's such a simple thing but very important to the function. The rope should also be longer as I cut very high and even if I can get this hooked around a very high branch sometimes it's too high to be able to reach or pull the cord. I can extend the rope but again they should have done better on the cord installation and length.Other than that it works and cuts great..

It's sturdy and well made. It's easy to adjust and even at full extension it is not flimsy. My only complaint is because it is so sturdy it was difficult for me, as a lightweight, to handle and be able to use without some intermediate support, which wasn't possible for the application I was using it for.Still, I can't complain about it, and am keeping for applications that don't require full extension.
