Very easy to assemble. I used it to remove low hanging tree limbs too close to my roof. It did a fine job. I have recommended it to several of my friends. Go for it!

Received the unit, spent time to read the manual, learn how to adjust the tension, buy chain oil.I single handedly trimmed this big tree, finished in two hours, cuts like butter, and chain tension remains good, not loose. It did stuck during the cutting occasionally, mainly because my cut direction was not right, and I tried to pull hard and nothing broke, which is good.Overall I am very satisfied, was skeptical of a cheap tool and it proofed itself. Until end the chain is still very sharp.

I had a big tree limb with many branches that had snapped during a recent storm and was dangling. Didn’t want to pay hundreds for a tree service and bought this pruner on Amazon. As other reviews have noted, it is top heavy, however, the weight actually helps with cutting without having to put much pressure to cut through the branch, but it is important that you have enough arms strength to hold and control the pole safely. It did a great job cutting through branches of approx. 6” diameter very easily and quickly. The only complaint I have is depending on how you are holding the handle it can be a little difficult to press the release button and engage the trigger to run the saw, but I can imagine this can also be a safety feature to make sure you hold the pole correctly! Overall, I am very satisfied with this pruner and it certainly was worth the price even for one job, but it will help with some tree clean up in the future as well.

So I’m not really one to write reviews but during using this I said to myself I have to give this thing some credit. I have used it to drop 4 pines and one large maple and one sapling maple and it works very and is running strong. I kind of like its adjustable from both sides, so and has plenty of power. I doubted the saw because the brand since Scott more of a fertilizer/ chemical company in my opinion but this thing is solid.

I was able to assemble this pole saw in about 20 minutes, although I didn't think the instructions were much help (too many boilerplate generic warnings and not enough assembly instructions). My biggest complaint about the manual was the tiny photographs and print that required a magnifying glass to read.I grew-up chopping wood for our family fireplace and I've got a lot experience with small to medium sized chainsaws. This is a real chainsaw and it was nice not to have to mess with a gas powered engine or a heavy battery. Even so, the saw is fairly heavy and fortunately, the extension rod is an 8-sided shaft that resists twisting and bending. It's sturdy and safe to use, but only for people with well developed fore-arms.The full extension was 10'. I would not think anything longer would be safe, but it might allow you to use it from the ground instead of going up on a ladder. I hate using it from a ladder, but I had no choice. However, it worked and I got about two hours of use out of it the first day. I found it to be quite heavy and difficult to manipulate while standing on a ladder. On the ground, it worked better and it quickly sliced through 1-2 inch branches without kick-back or jamming.Good features:Simple to opperate.Long cutting blade - should be fine for 6-8 inch limbs. (my largest limb was 5 inches)Self-oiling system worked without spraying oil everywhere and it did not leak on me.Strong pole - extends from about 6' to 10' with large easy to twist locking rings.Bad features:Manual was too small to read and not very helpfulThe pole can be assembled wrong to easily, which may damage the pins inside.Look very carefully for the embossed arrow and notice the pole only goes in one way.Look inside of the handle and the saw, to see which has pins and where they are located.Kit did NOT include chain oil (most any 30 weight oil will work fine. avoid synthetic oils)Note: The pole slides into place at each end about 5 inches and if you do it right, the detent pin will snap in the hole.

I'm a 72-year old woman. I have two 24' tall avocado trees. After paying a pro hundreds of dollars to prune them + observing the work, I wondered how I could save the money by doing it myself, without the danger of climbing the trees.I was delighted to learn about pole saws, wanted to find a corded one because I have limited strength to lift one with a battery (also, no charging).I first tried Harbor Freight's Portland brand, a great price, 8 pounds, but no angle feature. I had to be extremely careful at full extension because of the weight and my strength. Because of no angling feature, I knew that some of the heavy branches above would fall on me, but I was hoping the trauma would be minimized by them falling thru the tree. After struggling with that, I did some more shopping.Scott's pole saw, for only $15 more, weighs a pound less, I can angle the saw, extends about a half foot more, has a generous 3-year warranty, a more powerful motor, and was far more pre-assembled (I had to install the chain and properly tension it in my first saw, while the chain for this one was already installed). What a wonderful find, and it's time to "recycle" my former heavier pole saw with limited features.I am "singing hallelujah!"P.S. I think pole saws are "taking off" - when I bought my first one, it was the only one on the shelf. Now when I enter the store to check other tools out, the pole saws are literally piled-up in front of the store :O

The 10 foot reach is just what I needed to cut my palm trees. It was easy to assemble and worked the first time.

This pole saw is my 5th one to have. All prior ones were 8 inch electric which cut just as good if not better than any gas chain saw . I'm a 5'3 female and my husband wanted me to try a pole saw years ago so he wouldn't have to worry about me being so close to the chain and getting hurt if it kicked back. Ive had the best time using them and love the fact I've got enough trees to keep me busy. I will describe for you how this one compares to the prior ones and hope this helps someone out. The 8" saws are lightweight, very easy to use and all worked great. The best one I had was an old Home Depot brand that was red (they dont make anymore) it lasted forever . The next one was a Sun Joe 8" electric and I just stopped using it after at least 2 years. It ran great was easy to manage even as high as I could reach over my head. It was a great purchase. Then Sun Joe changed the way they are made and I wont buy another one until they get rid of the part that tightens the chain and holds it on. Its plastic instead of metal which is much stronger and will last for the application. I couldn't get the knob to loosen or tighten the chain matter of fact it locked up and vise grips wouldn't even move it. It was battery operated. I think they changed all saws to this application and it broke probably the 3rd time I used it. It didn't have enough juice to cut much of anything. . Lots of wasted money on batteries and bad purchase. It's too bad because the prior model was terrific. Next was the Ryobi. I Didn't like it. Can't say it wasn't a good product, but I was used to a straight bar and it was angled not that hard to use but it didn't have enough amps to match the first Sun Joe so it was a no go for me. Once you get used to having a higher amp its hard to go backwards and slower. This is the latest one and I got it for several reasons. I wanted to try a 10" to see how it handled. For my size its not too heavy but I can tell it when I am holding it as far up as it will go. When its coming down its a little harder to control but manageable. It has many of the features that my first one did that I really liked such as the way you loosen and tighten the chain. All components are metal and sturdy. I like how you extend it because its easy to untwist and the bar extends easily from both ends. I can tell this part is made well, the metal is good quality and it might be what makes it a bit heavier. You can have a straight bar or curve it with just a touch of a button. Very easy to work. I have 2 things about the saw that I wish were different and both I think are a deal breaker for me buying another one. If they made a couple of small tweaks to it, it would be unbeatable. First, in my opinion, it needs about 2 more amps to do the job I'm used to. It cuts good but its just a tad bit slower than I like. Second, this is so minor but becomes a big deal when trying to use it, the cord holder hole is too large and the knob you lock it on is too short so the cord won't stay in place and It comes unhooked all the time, gets in the way or comes unhooked from the extension cord. At first I thought I wasn't hooking it up good, but it wasn't me. Its very frustrating, so I just started wrapping electrical tape around the cord and the hook and it works fine. I will say that if youve never had an electric saw, they are fabulous in my opinion. When others are trying to start their saw, revving it up 20 times to get it working (if it does at all) and then you have to smell the fumes of the gas and then carry that gas/oil smell around on you all day long, an electric saw is running wide open from the second you pull the trigger and cuts just as good as any gas saw. You might not can cut as big a tree limb as a 14 or 18 inch bar, thats a given, but where theres a will theres a way. It might take longer to do, but it can be done. I don't suspect anyone would buy this to use on trees that big, but every now and then I run across one I need to get done. They work so good my husband even uses it, when I let him- lol.

I lie the saw & the concept of reaching out there to cut limbs you just can't get to. All brands are heavy on the cutting end I'm sure which makes them hard to hold up. I had to fabricate a strap that would allow me to spread the weight to my back giving me the control I needed to make the cut. I needed to cut a 3" limb & once I got the blade out there this saw cut it with ease. This was on an old oak that hangs over my roof & shades my house so its a hardwood tree but the saw cut right thru it without hanging up or binding. I may only need it on rare occasion but for the cost & quality this was a no brainer.
