It is all what I needed for projects around the house. It is powerful !
This is the best circular saw with a reputable brand name for the price hands down!
I purchased this to cut down about 50 2x4x8 fence posts. Cut through them like a knife through hot butter. Really liked the fact that it came with a great blade. The saw was ready to rock right out of the box.
Lightweight, easy to use, very accurate cuts. Lots of power to do any job.
I am not a big friend of the Skil brand due to bad experiences in the past, but I was encouraged to buy this saw for my workshop because of its power and low price and I was pleasantly surprised. When I have it in my hands I notice that it is very heavy and that is a very positive point since this tells me that it is a very powerful saw and for those of us who work with wood that is all we need a lot, a lot, a lot of power and This saw has it.Now, when it comes to cutting, it is necessary to have experience since its shoe is metal and not aluminum like the high-end ones, but it is obvious that if this is a mid-range shoe, this is how its materials will be. But in conclusion it seems like a good saw and I was surprised by its power. I hope this becomes a good experience with the skil brand and not like in the pastI hope this information has been useful to you... Blessings. Bendiciones.
Update at bottom. This is the 13 amp variant, ~$40.Bought this to do a diy hardwood flooring install. I realized this came with a 24 tooth blade, which is more suited for rough cutting large pieces like plywood or 2x4s, so I supplimented this purchase with a 60 tooth blade, by Diablo. The saw itself has plenty of power, I have not used the 24t blade, but this has had 0 issues with the 60t to cut through hardened engineered bamboo.NEGATIVES:Blade guide cutout is not exactly in line with the blade. The blade is a few mm further right than the guide suggests. Not a big issue once I realized it, just have to make that compensation.POSITIVES:Power, as mentioned (the torque is very noticable just getting the blade started),Size, easy to handle with right or left hand, quite compact when completely lowered,Can raise up the cutting depth to 0, so out can make a variety of cut depths (I use this for clearance, I'm cutting planks elevated on 1x4s on my garage floor)Has the 45° lateral tilt adjustment, which I haven't used while sawing, is a nice feature to have.Update: been using the 24t blade to deconstruct my porch, it's holding up pretty good after probably over 100 cuts on 5/4x6 and 2x4s.Also, you may consider wrapping the handle, the joint between the plastic shells chafes the hand between the thumb and pointer finger a bit with extended use.
I love the ease of using this tool, especially after having used a hand saw before. It is compact, reliable, efficient, and powerful. Precise measurements and cuts are an added feature!
This saw is heavier than my Ryobi battery-operated circular saw. However, it is far more powerful. The weight and extra power make it harder to control than my Ryobi. This one was not made with women in mind. The kickback is powerful and will shred boards if you are not careful. I wish the numbers and measurements were written in white to contrast the black background to make it easier to see. Setup is easy but you will need to wear protective eyewear as it kicks up a lot of wood dust especially if you are left-handed and stand on the right of the machine to use it. Overall, it's an okay tool.
Best for my budget ..couldn't be happier
