I saw the infomercial with that handy little circular saw… it was small and easy to handle but didn’t compare to one of these. It was a little overwhelming at first. A bit bigger than I expected. But it can handle so many tasks and produce results I could never attain using a saw or jig saw. The laser is great and its profile doesn’t stick way up like other brands. The edge guide is great and the added handle gives me more control but even without the handle the profile is designed well for optimum grip. More blades than other brands. I needed something that could cut through different materials - this does it; something handheld and easy to transport; it’s perfect. I’m happy with this brand, like the quality and love the results!
This works well for small projects, I have a hand injury, also small hands. Would be better if the power button and press switch were better arranged, especially for small hands. It cuts well, is stable with boards clamped, and I love the size. Was a very good purchase
I was after a small circular saw to use for my occasional home improvements-cutting shelves, etc. I wanted electric and small and not $100+. I have small hands and I’m not strong.I liked that it came with multiple blades and the laser guide was a bonus. It is surprisingly better than I expected.Pros: I was able to change the blade within a few minutes snd not break a nail. The instructions are decent. Not great but I figured it out. The laser guide was fabulous! The blade was sharp and I barely had to sand the edge of my shelf. The cord is a good length.Cons-although none of these are deal breakers just a note so you’re prepared. It’s loud. Earplugs-use them. The chute for the sawdust exhaust has to be pointed down and doesn’t work the best. I tried with and without and without may be the better. For anyone with small hands: the safety push button and the trigger are almost a two handed job for me and it was uncomfortable. Again, for small jobs, it’s doable.Be sure to put the left hand hold on-it makes it more stable (I probably couldn’t have used it without that actually). The safety button/operation trigger placement is the only reason I didn’t give this 5stars.
I bought this as a replacement for an old Makita 3", 12V saw I had that I used for small cuts. I needed something where the battery didn't die mid-cut on a small job. After buying and returning an inexpensive and hard-to-handle Worx handsaw I found this. The body is necked down at the handling point for an easy grip and the balance is pretty 50/50 between front and back. It is far from light but that balance makes it easy to use. The removable handle is a nice touch for controlling it when the item is fixed although I didn't use it. It ripped through 1X2's and 1/2" plywood no problem with plenty of torque. I doubt I'll use my full-size saw ant time soon.
I provided the purchase of the Dovaman mini circular saw a five star rating because I received the item in a timely manner. All of the accessories were present with the saw in a new condition, as advertised. The motor was 5.8amps as advertised; in addition, it had a holding handle to secure the saw while operating it.
Bough because I was need to for a project.Used it seems very nice, also the company respond very quickly if anyone has questions.
This tool is useful for many applications with the multiple blade changes available. I have small hands and I find that the grip is a bit large and heavy.
Excellent product
I bought this saw for two main reasons: 1) its compact size, because I carry crates of power tools from job to job, 2) its corded, electric motor, because I’m sick and tired of battery powered tools.I am very satisfied with its quality of manufacture and motor torque.I use it primarily to break down sheet goods and for the occasional crosscut of 2X framing lumber. When operated at the max depth of cut it is easy enough to hold provided that you are right-handed. On the rare occasion when I have needed to use it left-handed it is all but impossible to operate as the trigger and safety switches are not easily accessible to that hand. This saw will crosscut 2X framing lumber with the blade set at 90 degrees. It will not do so with the blade beveled at 45 degrees.Interestingly, the 24 tooth wood blade that comes with this saw has a diameter that is 1/4” (5mm) wider than the other blades. That extra 1/4” is what allows it to crosscut framing lumber. Be mindful of this if and when tou need to buy new blades. You’ll need a 4-3/4” (120mm) diameter blade. In addition, the arbor hole in all the blades that accompany this saw is 3/8” (9.5mm). Many third party blades are 10mm, so you really want to go looking for blades having a 3/8” arbor hole up to 4-3/4” (120mm) in diameter.I have two important criticisms of this saw.1) It is difficult to hold when making a shallow depth of cut because the handhold is positioned awkwardly high. Consequently the accuracy of the cut suffers and the operator gets tired more easily.2) The saw is small and light (which is great) but becomes unwieldy when connected to a vacuum hose. You generate a LOT of sawdust with this tool. You want a vacuum. But the high angle at which you must often hold the saw coupled with the drag caused by the vacuum hose make this a tool that you don’t want to work with all day long.To correct the above shortcomings this saw should be redesigned in the D-handle form that virtually all other circular saws employ. Years ago I owned a 5” Black and Decker corded electric circular saw that was spectacular in all respects. Seriously Dovaman, if you could replicate that saw with the same build quality that you’ve shown with this saw, it would be worth 10 stars.Other observations about this tool:The laser is not particularly accurate and it requires a watch battery. This is a feature I could easily live without. The edge guide is fine but its measurement markings are not accurate.I use the 90-degree vacuum hose adapter to deflect at least some sawdust away from my face.As circular saws go it is not especially loud.Bottom line: for occasional use you can put up with its shortcomings. But this would be a far better tool if it were just as small but in a D-handle form.
I received the saw in a wet package. The exterior box was extremely wet as if it was left outside in a rain storm. The water soaked through to the saw packing box. There was no damage to the saw. I plugged it up, after allowing it to dry out, and it worked. I will give it a more thorough test after Thanksgiving on a home repair project.
